Pros

I had the privilege of working under some wonderful supervisors and management during my time at Intrado. Collaborating with most of my colleagues was a joy, and it led to lasting friendships. I valued the flexibility I had when needed, and despite changes, the vacation and sick time policies remained generous. Remote work played a crucial role in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. While the medical benefits were good, they were on the expensive side.

Cons

The compensation consistently fell short of expectations. Whenever questioned about salary increases, the response was always that the company couldn't afford it. Layoffs were frequent, with recent ones leaving entire accounts with only high-level backup staff. Managers and supervisors tried to maintain morale, but they had little they could promise. The option to work fully remote was a significant advantage for many, especially given the low pay. However, the company kept leading everyone on from 2020 onwards. I was promised a promotion for years, only to be told that my focus should remain on the additional duties I had taken on before any consideration for advancement. Employee surveys became less frequent, and the topics seemed carefully chosen to avoid certain issues.

Pros

Work worth doing, motivational career for saving lives

Cons

We all know the routine. An investment company buys a company up, then the culture dies, layoffs of key positions happen, benefits decrease and moral is crushed. In Intrado's case with Apollo and Stonepeak. Once the company was sold and the founders left so did Intrado's soul. Don't expect promotions, even if you exceed expectations for years, and do expect to be underpaid and overworked. They'll likely hire an outsider with zero public safety knowledge than promote from within. Zero faith in long time employees to enter management positions. Sadly long time facilities employees also get paid horribly despite grinding there for 10 plus years. Only the bottom line matters to investment companies and definitely not Intrado's people.
