Pros

Many of the non-management employees are genuinely great to work with. The people doing the actual work are supportive, collaborative, and often the only positive aspect of the job.

Cons

Management is the root of the problem. Leaders are disengaged, avoid real responsibilities, and create more obstacles than solutions. Leadership training is nonexistent, and there is no real professional development, accountability, or interest in modern leadership practices. Accountability only flows downward, and roles go to those who have been around the longest or aligned themselves with the right people, not those with actual leadership ability. HR practices are extremely concerning. Employees can and do get terminated without warning or explanation, creating constant instability and distrust. Issues are not handled according to widely accepted HR standards, and concerns are routinely brushed aside with little to no follow-up. Overall, expectations and standards vary widely depending on who you are and who you report to. There are clear double standards in how people’s time and behavior are judged and the culture feels decades behind where a professional organization should be. Despite "progress" being a core principle, suggesting improvements is often met with condescension. "We've done it this way for 30 years" is the HIROTEC mindset.
