Would not recommend Harrods / H Beauty - Sales Manager Harrods Employee Review

The decent pay comes with a lot of disadvantages that include toxic and unhealthy working environment, discriminative, unprofessional, and under qualified area/senior management. . Senior management only followed the company’s policy’s and procedures when it suited them. The store had a huge amount of HR cases and the HR department did not handle cases effectively and fairly, including ones of racism, homophobia, transphobia. Cases would often be left weeks, wrong advice would be given, and the store would be often blamed for the mistakes when HR should be paying more accurate attention when dealing with cases that are affecting real people. Harrods have operated for such a long time in one location (Knightsbridge) and I feel that they have failed to meet the needs and the demand that is required for external sites to be successful and just rest on the fact it is Harrods so it will work. It is a company that works on if your face fits. And mistakes are not seen as opportunities for learning and development but are seen as a weakness and you are informed of how replaceable you are. You operated on fear and stress due to treatment that you received from senior management and didn’t feel a valued employee, you got reminded that you are replaceable and can be fired without any questions asked. Senior management didn’t provide any constructive or positive feedback on visits I feel this was due to their lack of experience within beauty industry. The feedback we got given was either dust or price stickers. Which granted can be classed as feedback but for a senior manager to not conduct commercial walks or provide constructive feedback on how to develop or grow the business, feedback on dust or price stickers wasn’t what we needed. We had a high staff turnover in store with some brands not able to employee staff members due to the reputation the store has for itself. I could carry on with a list of the cons but this is an insight to what it was like for a sales manager within Harrods and H beauty
