Disappointing experience with poor support and misleading recruitment
I joined HSS Hire as a Branch Manager following direct contact from recruitment, but the role was not as described. The recruitment process set expectations around training, support, and operational readiness that were not met once in post. This lack of transparency made the transition into the role unnecessarily difficult.
The training consisted of two weeks of generic, poorly structured content that did not prepare me for the realities of running a branch. After this, I was placed into a branch with minimal support, expected to resolve complex operational issues independently, often without guidance from senior management.
A significant challenge was the condition and reliability of the hire equipment. A large proportion of the kit was frequently faulty or unfit for purpose, yet branches were still expected to meet targets and customer expectations. This placed staff in a difficult position and created ongoing pressure and dissatisfaction.
Transport and logistics processes were inefficient, adding further strain to daily operations. The salary did not reflect the responsibility or stress of the role, and the working environment was highly pressured with excessive micromanagement. Morale was low, and the culture felt reactive rather than supportive.
Overall, the business appeared focused on short-term metrics rather than addressing fundamental issues. For anyone considering a role here, I would strongly advise seeking clarity on support, equipment standards, and long-term stability before accepting an offer.
I woroed here for x4 months only managed due to finances. Otherwise id leave. Id give 0 stars if possible.
