Pros

Global was overall a great place to work. If you love music and want an insight into how the industry works it's perfect. The digital team was amazing and doing some really exciting things which in a pretty corporate environment is rare. The culture was there because everyone was passionate, encouraged and excited to work for the company. I got some amazing experience which I will always be grateful of.

Cons

If you are happy to play the game and accept that you are there for the company and not the other way around you'll do better. The company culture went downhill during the 5 years I was there. The company values were introduced and so were the awful employment reviews. The 'Spotlight' reviews were there to reason with employees and explain why despite their increased workload and responsibility they were only eligible for a measly 1% rise or no rise at all. Reviews and 1-1's were an opportunity to measure us and give them more opportunities to micro manage and squeeze the last out of us. The pay is lower than industry standard Global doesn't care, their view was that is should be a privilege to work at the company. I had absolutely no support during my ill health. During my 4th year at Global I had some serious health issues which needed medical treatment. Without this medical treatment I would have died. In the lead up to my treatment I was criticised for having 6 days off sick over a one year period. I was refused the option to work from home on occasions where I was struggling. I was offered no support and an increased workload! I had doctors notes to prove my condition. I was scared for my health and also scared to take time off work because I was threatened with statutory sick pay at my managers discretion. So basically, I had to play nice or I had my wages cut. I ended up quitting because I couldn't handle the stress. During my 2 month notice period I had to have radiotherapy and ended up working from home during recovery to ensure I got a full pay as there was another threat of statutory sick pay. I was ill and devastated. I worked incredibly hard for nearly 5 years and my final few months ended with resentment and stress. I regret speaking with HR. They really are only there to protect the business, nothing was confidential! I regret not seeking legal advice at the time but I was too intimidated, had no money to fight my corner and needed to focus on my health.
