Pros
When I joined Forma nearly two years ago, the engineering team often felt like it was in constant “fire drill” mode. Since then, several key leadership changes have significantly improved both the tone and direction of the company. We are no longer just reacting to issues, and instead we have been able to focus on addressing root causes and building long-term solutions.
This shift has allowed us to invest time in developing systems that better support our operations team and provide a more stable, reliable platform for our customers. The startup mindset is still present, but without the constant stress that can sometimes come with it.
Leadership is open to new ideas, and it is not uncommon to see thoughtful suggestions make their way onto the roadmap quickly. Overall, it is a company that is clearly trending in the right direction.
Cons
We are getting better with our product and planning processes, but there is still room for improvement.
Some of the legacy code can be difficult to navigate and understand at times, but there is usually documentation that can provide context and insight into the original intent. There have been discussions about rewriting certain parts of the stack, but those efforts have not yet materialized.
