Pros

Some really nice people work here and I like most of the people I work with. Pay is overall decent and the environment is pretty flexible.

Cons

I don't really get some of the revenue leadership hires and why some people have stayed in their roles based on their output. Maybe I don't know what I'm doing or I'm missing something. People seem to share that feeling that I've talked to. A little bit of favoritism if you have an existing relationship with a leader that has rubbed a few people the wrong way.

Pros

Couldn't be happier working here. Surrounded by intelligent, thoughtful people. Incredibly flexible leadership that understands the industry. A clear focus on success both for ourselves and our customers.

Cons

Working from home can feel a bit isolated at times, but regular contact and yearly events help keep that at bay.

Pros

When I was interviewing, I chose FOSSA because of the team. Everyone seemed very genuine, open, and collaborative. Like what corporate slogans say they are, but actually. Happily, in my time since I've learned that the team is actually like this, and this culture has stuck with FOSSA in the time I've been here. I genuinely think that while not perfect, it's the best place I've worked. The company also encourages ownership and experimentation to a level I rarely see. A lot of the tech we work with and features we build are genuinely interesting, and employees get a lot of say in how we operate as a business which I really love.

Cons

The business space is not a terribly exciting one. We're not changing the world for better or worse like OpenAI, or blasting off on a rocket ship like Netflix of old. Mostly, we build features for lawyers that other engineers tolerate but never love. There's still plenty of space to find passion and interest, of course. If you love advocating for open source, for example. Or if you can focus on the craft of your profession, despite the lack of raw excitement in the air. A lot of the features we build and tech we work with is truly interesting and fulfilling to work on.
