Pros
Work ad life balance is good
Cons
I've worked for FINCA for almost 18 months. In this time, what I've learned about FINCA's business model has compelled me to seek employment elsewhere. On the surface FINCA appears to be an organization aimed at helping people in developing countries build businesses with microcredit. However, the truth is FINCA makes money by giving loans to destitute people, in developing countries, at exorbitant interest rates. The market research and finance department's own data conclude that FINCA's loans do not help their customers. In many cases, FINCA's loans worsen the financial health of their clients. Despite knowing this, the directors continue to push the same products (loans) to vulnerable populations. I've learned the directors and C-level staff at FINCA are paid high six-figure salaries (and in some cases millions of dollars), all on the backs of destitute people. If you're interested in joining an organization who's mission is to really improve the lives of people in developing countries, do not work at FINCA.
