Free apartment and activities, but poor management and low pay - Resident Advisor EF (Education First) Employee Review

Pros

Free apartment, opportunities to meet people, and involvement in activities and events.

Cons

Compensation did not reflect the workload or level of responsibility expected from staff. Employees were expected to take on additional duties without additional pay. Hours were reduced with little notice while expectations and workload remained the same. Management communication and support were inconsistent, which created unnecessary stress and made the role more difficult than it needed to be. Workplace culture often felt unsupportive, and staff concerns were not handled professionally or constructively.

Pros

You get to choose your tour and recruit the students you want to bring. The paid chaperone ratio is 6:1, so it is very manageable. The tours are great and the local experts are wonderful.

Cons

Company support is variable. There is high turnover and new consultants are very sales motivated and don't always get the nuances of your school or community group. I have had some WONDERFUL concusltants, but they have always been promoted before I get to work with them again.
