Pros

Doist is a team composed of a diverse and talented group of people, from all over the world. It's a rare opportunity to be able to work and learn from so many different people, directly from your home. Doist is more than a firm, it's a family which gives you the support system to grow professionally and personally. Learning from other human beings is at the center of everything we do. This is also reflected in our products: we work every day to improve the life of our users, everywhere. It's not just a motto written somewhere on our website, it's actually what we do.

Cons

The remote work life can be challenging at times. It requires being able to listen to yourself to learn when to work and when to disconnect. You're continuously working to create the best work environment for yourself. Despite this, remote remains the best way to work because, when you figure this out (and you will), you can give your best at work while enjoying a fulfilling personal life.

Pros

I don't think any other company would have given me the chance to grow so much both personally and professionally as Doist has. Five years ago, I started working with Amir on a freelance basis and, as the business grew, I began taking on more and more tasks until becoming a full-time employee and eventually the Head of Marketing. During this time, I got married, moved countries/continents, cared for a sick parent, and had my first child. Despite all these challenges, the flexibility and support at Doist has allowed me to continue grow professionally at my own pace while also living through these important personal milestones. I'm eternally grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of such a forward-thinking team.

Cons

As a fully remote team, I don't get to see my teammates as often as I would love to. The Doist family is a truly amazing group of people.

Pros

- Completely flexible schedule – you don't have to keep your butt in the chair from 9-5pm whether you're being productive or not. Work the hours that are best for you. - Work from anywhere. - No managers looking over your shoulder supervising you. You can take on projects you're excited about and see them through to the end. - A team of really good and interesting people from all over the world who are respectful and want to do good work. Not a bro-culture at all. The company has given a significant amount to charity the last 3 years. - Extremely transparent about decisions, financial health, etc. - Committed to sustainable growth - not just chasing VC funding - so you're not left wondering if your job will still be there in a year. - Annual team retreats in places like Menorca, Iceland, Greece, and Chile.

Cons

- Since it's a small, growing company there's no defined career or professional development path. You really have to be proactive about defining what you want to do and where you want to go. Can be a pro and a con. - Since it's a remote company not based in the US, there's currently no health or retirement benefits which is a bummer. They do pay well, but if you need a lot of healthcare it probably doesn't make up for the lack of health insurance.
