Pros

I had a lot of fun over the summer working for Destiny. My role in reservations offered great experience and transferable skills for so many future roles. The team were great and we had a lot of opportunities to socialise. The company are very supportive and friendly, and a lot of effort is put into making sure the staff have a great summer, with lots of events and activities organised. If you want to experience Edinburgh with a great bunch of people while also being able to earn, this company offer a great opportunity.

Cons

The payment date isn’t great if you have commitments, most jobs pay at the end of a month, this one pays the first 5 days into the new month. So I did find myself having to try and adjust payment dates for my personal bills to align with this.

Pros

Good price for accommodation as it is imposible to get a bed in Cork.

Cons

The job isn't well paid enough, and the teammates don’t seem to care if you have to get up early in the morning after they've been out partying the night before, among other things. The manager's lack of leadership fails to address these issues once they arise. Additionally, the workplace is located in some dodgy areas where people are seen using heroin on the corner. You can’t get more than 30 hours a week, and there’s no certainty of advancing within the business if you only work during the summer.

Pros

Cheap rent on site in an amazing city during summer

Cons

The job can be hard because of the amount of people that check-in, and for peoples high standards not matching the quality of the hotel
