While I see my regional attempt to shield us, there is a constant fire drill for whatever the flavor of the day is- sometimes we know ahead of time and sometimes it is thrust upon us.- usually wherever the market is getting beat by others- my branch could be doing great but “they” need more. The coaching is very seldom around building any type of skill but more so asking for you to build your own improvement plan and to figure out a way to do more on your own- I think mgmt realizes they don’t know how to do more either so we spend time creating “Grow” plans for them so they somehow feel better.
We have to keep “Whats hot, hot”...shouldn’t the hot thing be building a relationship with a customer and celebrating it when we do, rather than beating us up when we have a wealth referral on a Thursday instead of the desired Tuesday. Believe it or not sometimes customers do not know we are only interested in their wealth investments on Tuesdays and sometime the people we interact with on Thursday don’t need a credit card or loan.
I hear things like “you’re dumb, why can’t you do better, you should be embarrassed, your results are unacceptable”...then five minutes later I’m being asked why I think my fellow colleagues are not “engaged” or more happy...gee I don’t know?
