Pros
There really are very few if any really unpleasant people who work at Cargill. Cargill's culture is quite relationship based and to get anything done requires that you be able to work through others, oftentimes through networks that are informal and opaque to the initiated. This tends to reinforce the need to be respectful to everyone. Cargill is developing a robust safety culture, though how robust still varies significantly from business to business. Cargill is a great company, with great people who truly care about what they do.
Cons
Cargill, like many of our peers and competitors find ourselves in a much more competitive environment than has ever been the case before. We have to adapt and become a much more agile and innovative firm. While we see the need for the change, how we are going about that change is fundamentally flawed. The pace of the change is glacial and in too many instances that relationship based culture has led us to retain people in senior roles whose most salient qualifications are that they are close to one or more decision makers.
