Pros

- Good benefits - Smart, driven colleagues - Flexibility to work from home - Nice office space

Cons

- Toxic culture that stems from the top down. Leadership and management at Button has a habit of playing "favorites" and if you're not one of these lucky few, you're forgotten about or treated really poorly. - There's no real path towards promotions or raises. Due to these factors, the turnover at the company keeps getting worse and its surprising to see anyone last at Button for more than a year. - No transparency with how the company is actually performing. Everyone was reassured things were great until they had to lay off 40+ employees

Thank you for your feedback. As you know, one of our company values is to speak boldly and honestly and we really appreciate your candor. We take your words seriously and we’ll be reviewing them with the leadership team to discuss your concerns. We also appreciate you bringing it to our attention that the promotion process feels unclear. We strive to provide a consistent framework through the growth ladder and strive to be transparent with the process and means of evaluation as part of our values of growing individually and organizationally. We will do our part to revisit our documentation and review the process with managers to ensure these guides and resources are consistently utilized in growth conversations. If there is anything else you’d like to share, I would be more than happy to discuss your concerns further. Please feel free to reach out to me directly. -Stephanie, Chief People Officer

Pros

Button has a dynamic work environment. They are pushing hard into new types of Ad inventory that is starting to get traction so there's no shortage of exciting projects.

Cons

If you are on the West coast, the time difference is a drag but getting to go to NYC every once in a while sort of makes up for it.

Pros

- unlimited PTO (if you can actually use it) - new office

Cons

Continually cost cutting projects, dumpster fire fighting, or projects shafted after months of work with no empathy. I understand priorities can shift in a start up environment, but there is no clear direction across product and engineering, which instills no trust in senior leaders and they don't seem to care about employee morale. Employees questioning their decision to work here so soon after getting hired is not good. CRO is power hungry and always looking to show her "knowledge", when really she just acts like a dictator, that's not leadership. The immense lack of respect, rudeness, and condescension is disturbing, with the attitude of "get it done or else". Which results in fear and stress to get things submitted without proper QC or even a ticket. When managers start blaming their teams instead of taking accountability, that's when you know the company isn't headed anywhere good. If you want to feel burnout your first month, Button is the company for you. They say you "wear a lot of hats", but you're not paid for it either, which eats away at your quality of life and you start dreading going to work each week.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience at Button has not met the high standard we strive to create for our team members. We recognize that startup environments can be demanding and that periods of change and shifting priorities can create stress for teams. That said, team members should always feel respected, supported, and clear on how their work connects to company goals. Feedback around burnout, communication, and cross-functional alignment is something we take seriously. Over the past year, we’ve continued investing in improving how teams collaborate, prioritize work, and support employee development, and we know there is always more work to do. Honest feedback — even when difficult to hear — helps us identify areas where we can improve as leaders and as an organization. We appreciate you sharing your perspective; we would invite you to email us at people@usebutton.com if you would like to discuss any of your feedback directly with us; we're always open to learning, growing, and adapting.
