Pros

Trendy environment- if that's important to you. They've spent a lot of money to make it feel like a cool downtown office despite being in the junky part of Olathe. A few of the people who work there are genuinely nice people.

Cons

The location leaves a lot to be desired. Poor work/life balance. The CEO of the company makes horrible financial decisions and is overall not great to work for. They fire people way more frequently than a company of this size should. Don't get excited about any perks they lure you in with - because they don't mind stripping those away. If you haven't been around since the beginning and thus grandfathered into a "director" role, the only way to advance is to do the work of five people or be an attractive young woman.

Pros

The company offers exceptional benefits including fully covered health insurance, demonstrating real investment in employees. Leadership is personable and approachable - I had genuine, meaningful conversations with my direct manager. The developers are knowledgeable about their respective areas, and there's clear technical expertise within the team.

Cons

Technical decision-making is heavily influenced by backend/full-stack perspectives. Frontend development is not always viewed as equal to other engineering disciplines, which can create challenges for FE specialists trying to advocate for best practices. Team has strong opinions about architecture and approaches, with limited openness to alternative perspectives. Work planning and project management processes need significant improvement. Small team dynamics mean disagreements can be difficult to navigate. Performance feedback and expectations could be communicated more clearly.
