Pros
The nature of the work and culture of the firm results in a great variety of potential work experience.
Cons
Booz Allen conducts annual assessments on all employees but fails to properly utilize these assessments in determining pay raises for many. These assessments include a review of feedback provided by colleagues that work with the assessee. The process is flawed since salary actions (raises) are often determined prior to the completion of the assessment process. This results in the employees manager making salary action decisions without being completely informed. In most companies the manager would work closely enough with the employee to make a valid assessment of the employees performance, but within Booz Allen many managers are not engaged in the day-to-day work and often do not have a true understanding of the value that some individuals offer to the teams they work on. This results in favored employees getting larger raises than those that are more deserving. This flaw of not connecting the assessment results to the salary actions results in an assessment process that is not taken as seriously by many employees as it should be.
