Great environment to share ideas in an open and professional environment.
--This is simply not true at Biological Dynamics. Let me give you a few examples.
(i) Depending on CTO's mood, he would shut down your ideas without any scientific ground. He once claimed that he did not believe in next-generation sequence but later on ate his own words. No matter how good of a scientist/engineer you are, he would not listen to you even with perfect data and facts.
(ii) Biological Dynamics is far from being a professional environment. The CTO made a bunch of jokes based on races and sexes. He once said that I would be "lucky" to get lung cancer since there was drug developed for my ethnic group in a group meeting.
Company rewards self-motivated individuals.
-- This is not true. Biological Dynamics only award those who obey CEO's and CTO's orders. Those who truly contributed to the company were either laid-off or demoted.
Company means tests all ideas and are open to dynamic change as long as the changes reflect the corporate goals related to technology and scientific development. Gives people responsibility and allows each voice to be heard.
-- This is not true. Biological Dynamics changes their goals based on CEO's and CTO's moods. There is no scientific guideline. They just do what they feel like of the day. During my short stint there, they went back and forth at least 4-5 times for my projects. I would perform some experiments to achieve the goals they set for me. Once I achieved it, they would change the goals for me to do more experiments. Once I achieve their goals again, they would switch back to the original goals and dismissed all the works I did. This is extremely frustrating for a well-trained scientist.
Most important of all, CTO and CEO lack fundamental understanding of science and thus cannot assess different technologies in a very dynamically evolving field. It took them a while to understand difference between DNA and RNA, and I am still not sure if they are well-informed of what NGS means.
