Pros

The discount is good, the store itself is beautiful.

Cons

Management within this specific location is horrendous. Very miserable work environment. Nearly no employees are happy there. Nothing is kept confidential, even private information about you as an employee. Annual Raises are between .25 cents and .41 cents. This specific store does not like to invest in there employees. Star lunch for employees who got recognized for legendary customer service includes crock pot tacos, and grilled burgers. Constantly running out of supplies including bags, receipt paper, paper for the printer, shipping supplies. When we were out of paper, we were told by management to lie to the customer and say that the system was down. Full time hours vary and you work just enough hours to meet the average 30 hours per week state minimum. Unfair work environment, certain employees are held to completely different standards than others. 2 outfitters came in drunk over 5 times each without any repercussions. Harassment over getting customers to sign up for a store credit card. Very little initiative to show outfitter appreciation from management throughout the store. Attendance policy is 10 points in a year, some outfitters get fired once they hit 10 points, some can reach upwards of 45 points until termination, it’s up to manager discretion. If you need to take sick, paid time off that you earned, you will still be pointed for it and punished accordingly. Management within this location does target based on sexual orientation and personality characteristics. Moving up within the store to higher paying roles is very difficult to achieve. Management is very disorganized and manager turnover is very high. Management follows a delegate type system. Managers do not do any labor nor help with any tasks even during busy times. Our taxes have been screwed up multiple times. HR is there to protect the company and is incredibly unhelpful. Sexual harassment has occurred multiple times with multiple outfitters within our store to which management was aware of and fully dismissed it without any type of investigation. The assistant GSM spends over half of his shift flirting with the 2 girls from club. Multiple managers have made incredibly disgusting sexual comments. Fridge in break room rarely gets cleaned out and smells ungodly. There’s food that has been sitting inside the fridge for over 6 months. Company systems are severely outdated and often times have lots of issues and bugs. Required by dress code to have a communicator or gizmo when there is not enough to go around and they refuse to spend the extra money to order a sufficient amount. Overall, very hostile and toxic work environment.

Pros

Bass Pro Shops has a strong team culture, and the people are one of the best parts of working here. I've had the opportunity to work with talented and supportive coworkers who are willing to collaborate and help each other succeed. The company also offers exposure to large-scale marketing initiatives and provides opportunities to work on a variety of projects across multiple channels and business areas.

Cons

The compensation and benefits package could be more competitive, especially when compared to similar marketing roles in the industry. Project timelines are often extremely aggressive, leaving little room for unexpected challenges and creating a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. While the work can be rewarding, the combination of tight deadlines and limited resources can make it difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance at times.
