Pros

BD is a great place to work if you want to put one foot in front of the other and collect a paycheck. The hours are great compared to every other place I've worked... usually just about 42-43 per week. If you like a steady income, good hours, a slow pace, low unemployment risk, and you like to take orders, this is your place.

Cons

If you need to express high levels of inventiveness and originality look elsewhere. Management favors analysis, tradition, dress codes, a sure thing, low risk, and careful steps. They don't like challenge, new unproven ideas, high energy, or individual decision making. Engineers from the design-side of consumer electronics companies struggle here. Management is very top-down and bureaucratic, and challenges to their commands are not well received. One thing that I noticed during my first week of employment was how eerily quite it is, to the point of being Stepford wives creepy. After about a month, I found out that a few of the more non-conservative engineers couldn't "take it anymore" and they spoke out. Within a fairly short period of time they were "let go". Also, I should say that there are a steady flow of engineers that leave the company right at their two year mark (so that they don't have to pay back relocation).

Pros

There really aren't any. Incredibly toxic culture all the way down. BD used to be a great and supportive place to work but that is no more.

Cons

Very toxic culture. Management all the way down is either abusive or or flat out incompetent. We are told to essentially ignore our own code of conduct policies and ethics to the point where all qualified and competent performers have been run off by tyrant middle managers who can essentially do whatever they want or being saddled with the work of 3 people. You will not be valued here. The morale is at bottom and everyone is looking to leave the sinking ship.
