Pros
Flight benefits. The actual airline employees actually care about you.
Cons
I worked here for quite a while and have seen several changes in management. Without question, this is the worst leadership team I’ve experienced.
If you want to schedule a doctor’s appointment or make plans with your family, good luck. Schedules are routinely posted only two days before the workweek starts, making it almost impossible to plan your life.
If you’re full-time, don’t expect full-time treatment. Part-time employees regularly receive 40-hour weeks before full-time employees.
Vacation requests don’t feel like they’re handled consistently. From what I experienced, approvals often depended more on who you were close to than on any fair process.
Promotions are available, but don’t expect the pay increase that should come with the added responsibility.
The biggest issue is trust. Employees are constantly told to speak up, but many don’t because they believe anything said to HR eventually makes its way back to management. That has been my experience, and it’s why many employees no longer feel comfortable raising concerns. Going to the Regional Manager didn’t change anything either. Employees felt concerns simply made their way back to local leadership.
If you question leadership, raise ethical concerns, or disagree with management, don’t expect those concerns to be taken seriously. Instead, you’ll likely be labeled as the problem.
Favoritism is obvious. Leadership takes care of friends and family first, and many employees believe opportunities are not awarded fairly.
I also personally observed situations that I believe created serious conflicts of interest. One manager’s daughter reported directly to them before later being promoted into another management role, where several of her friends also followed. I also observed that this same manager had romantic relationships with multiple employees who reported directly to them. In my opinion, that undermined confidence that employees were being treated fairly and professionally.
The turnover speaks for itself. This used to be a place where people stayed for years. Now people are leaving left and right. Leadership doesn’t seem interested in asking why, and HR investigations rarely resulted in meaningful change.
The pay isn’t worth it. You can work for United, American, or other companies in the industry, earn similar pay, receive better benefits, work under clearer policies, and be treated with far more respect.
I cannot recommend working here.
