Pros
- Managing people is more rewarding than doing the work at Alibaba. If you manage your manager well, its possible you can have some good time there. - If you don't hate travel, you can travel around on company money while not doing too much work. - A polished year-end report could get you a long way. - Although it is on-site at Headquarter, there are still plenty of ways to kill time. -
Cons
As a business unit within the Alibaba Group, Alibaba.com was founded on its salesforce, which still has its sways in these days. - Products are mostly scam and sales are hoax. - Departmental barriers exists with while team functions and responsibilities are often blurred. - Legal bears business goals, while leadership does not understand or choose to overlook risks. - Restructures are frequent and followed by lay off every six months. - Emphasis on report and presentation over what was actually done. - Senior leadership is out of touch and rarely grasp the technicalities, mid-level passes down orders, and the ground troops do everything. - Majority of people have questionable principle, boundary, or respect for coworkers. And expect late night calls or messages.
