Pros

Nice colleagues, very easy to ask a question, no matter how trivial Cool tech and software. A lot of the hosts are lovely and very enjoyable to deal with If you are serious about starting your own start-up, this is a great opportunity to gain experience Holiday allowance is above average, birthday day off is a nice touch

Cons

The workload is primarily office-based and can be mundane and repetitive and is akin to a call centre type job (some people may enjoy this). Hard to switch off out of hours, I was added to several WhatsApp groups with messages regularly coming in outside of office hours from sorter queries. Questionable practice from time to time - the remote check-in method for apartments was clever but not the best experience for guests. Also, I saw no evidence of a vetting system for taking on new properties, some of which were not suited to hosting even though they had bookings. I know the company is a tech company, not hospitality, but I still feel something could be done to give guests a better, more personal welcome, even if it costs more to do now, in the long run, it would pay off through good word of mouth, repeat bookings etc. There’s a ‘pass the parcel’ approach when dealing with cases between different departments which can sometimes overcomplicate something simple. I felt it more of a restraint than an aid, though another person may like it, so it is subjective. My position was re-advertised as a ‘junior’ role shortly after I’d left with a considerably lower fixed starting salary, leading me to question if the company is having some financial issues as some other reviews have alluded too. Middle management although helpful, can equally be overwhelming. For the most part, my manger was lovely and very diligent at their job, however, some oversights did spoil my experience. They regularly listened to my work phone calls and read my work-related emails. They even counted the number of times I momentarily left my desk one day (5 times - the loo and making coffee). They later queried me with the assumption I was taking calls from clients from my previous employment. This was the beginning of the end in my mind, as I felt uneasy and watched from thereon, as though I could not be trusted, overall it was just insulting and bad tact. The city manager, although very capable, always seemed stressed and under pressure. This quite often created a bad atmosphere to work in, as they came across as cold and unapproachable, which isn’t a true reflection of them as a person, they were more than capable and shouldn’t self doubt.
