Pros

In the days of the pandemic, Educative adapted well, if not thrived given its worldwide presence and challenging time zones. While the pay scale is not market rate, it's appropriate for an education technology startup, and it comes with a lot of possibilities for personal growth and professional development, if one applies themselves. (This was strongly encouraged at the company.) Working for Educative is most exciting for anyone interested in early-stage startup energies, especially for a company on the rise. It has all the opportunity to make a big impression in its space.

Cons

There are generally two types of personalities in the leadership team: those who support and nurture their team to feel a sense of empowerment and ownership, and those who seem to be eager to fire (or even worse, make it intolerable remain at the company to force a resignation and avoid paying severance). People who reflect the latter will grind through talented people and exhaust the HR and recruiting departments, but sadly there's no accountability for this kind of mismanagement at Educative. This has led to a lot of truly brilliant people departing a toxic work environment.

Pros

- Free lunch - Helpful coworkers - Okay benefits (health insurance, but no 401k matching)

Cons

- Deadlines and the general workload are almost always unreasonable for the pay offered, leading to constant burnout and understaffing in most areas of the company. They're always hiring but never able to catch up to the staffing levels they would actually need; there is an unsustainable need to continue producing more and more product. - You'll probably be expected to be in evening (8-11pm) Zoom meetings with coworkers in Pakistan most weekday nights. This may not be not clearly communicated during the hiring process. - Leadership forced everyone back to the office so that they could sit in more Zoom meetings, but now in the office. It was a blanket return-to-office policy without thinking through if some teams/employees would be just as productive continuing to work from home. - The actual product, coding courses, aren't well written or put together when compared to other competitors like Codeacademy, so you don't even feel good about what you're helping to produce.

This company is a joke

Pros

Free lunch when you go into office (mandatory 3 days in office a week) Paid parking or Orca card Used to have a great variety of snacks

Cons

Leadership is reactive should have sold the company to people who know how to run a company. Mandatory 3 days in office, when most meetings are over zoom with people in other countries. No career growth, and very low salaries. HR is nonexistent, favoritism, blatant sexism, and so so many other things, multiple lawsuits. Most turnover I've ever seen at a company. This company will not exist in 2 years, or will have off-shored all jobs to Pakistan.
