Pros

Some really great people work here

Cons

As with most start ups, the growth isn’t supported by the infrastructure. There is little to no growth on the People Team let alone available opportunities to learn or ways to build personal visibility. We seem to have no problem implementing more and more technology to make our jobs more difficult yet they refuse to look at the employees, their careers and the current level of satisfaction in their roles. Despite doing great work, only managers seem to get promoted The leaders are not leading people: they are dictating and disconnected from the well-being of their employees. In our quest to disrupt the industry, the leaders don’t seem at all concerned with the people who work here. The People Team is a joke - there is no team work, no collaboration and no hope for a career here. The People Team has no growth track and despite asking over and over again, seems to have no interest in the career development of their employees or creating levels/goals to work towards. The team is flat with no promotion opportunity and yet their leaders get promoted time and again; rewarding bad managers with more power and neglecting to even pretend to create opportunities for advancement for those under them. Salaries are very low compared to the market and no exceptions are made to account for cost of living, experience or good work. Only come here if you want to work a lot, not get paid well and report to someone with no management skills and no heart.

Horrible Management

Pros

*The pros are the benefits.

Cons

**MANAGEMENT The company hired an exorbitant amount of employees in a small amount of time. Interest rates go up , and work comes to a standstill. Nothing is said, and the possibility of layoffs is the elephant in the room. Then comes a Zoom invitation regarding organizational changes from a higher up - not direct supervisor, and to keep it quiet. Surprise! Various zoom meetings scheduled throughout the day to lay off multitudes of employees. Nobody knows what the criteria was because their direct supervisors did not participate or were asked to provide any feedback. I completely understand the need for layoffs. What I don’t understand is the cold, impersonal way it was done. This company was all about the employees when I started. How could management go so wrong?

Pros

This was a great company in the beginning when interest rates were low and business was booming. They do offer great benefits like unlimited PTO and the culture for the most part was ideal.

Cons

The CEO (Max Simkoff) kept promising that we were done laying off people however that was a lie. The higher ups failed to pivot the company with the current state of the market. The company also pushed a lot of its radical liberal views which wasn't horrible but it doesn't contribute to the success of a company. I also was shocked at how much money was wasted on business trips that could've been done over a zoom meeting as well as all the random stuff they would send out like stickers, mugs and poorly made hats. The RSU program seemed nice at first but then the stock value crashed so hard that it was not much of an incentive to stick around anymore. It also felt like they timed the last major layoff right before another 25% of the RSUs vested again...The business operations seemed to have trouble getting their stuff together which made other departments jobs much harder and frustrating every day. There was also the cases of watching people get promoted without being vetted or passing the opportunity along to others. This was sad to see as managers were put in place that were not good managers at all.
