Pros

- Budapest is a beautiful city.

Cons

- The workflow is an assembly line. No creativity. - No communication, no daily reviews, they only communicate in written form. - Extremely strict hierarchy. - Some of the top supervisors have asolutely no leadership skills and no competence in art or computer graphics whatsoever. - Artists are treated like expendables, and get under motivated quickly. - The best talent already left the studio. The ones who are stuck here are planning to leave. - Their way of working and tools are prehistoric. Their movies have exactly the same visual quality as a bunch of years ago, when they were at their top. Since then, they only grew in number, turning corporate. - Focus is only on quantity, no quality anymore.

Pros

You have the chance to work on big titled game trailers and cinematics from AAA studios. You can learn from the best and most talented people on the market.

Cons

I've been working here for a few years and recently everything went downhill since Embracer purchased the company. In the recent months, there were layoffs without any warning or were told that there will not be layoffs, and there were. People who got layed off, they were instantly locked out of their computer without any notice even while they were in the office. In recent weeks the company does a lot of shady and misleading communication towards their employees which is unacceptable. They are famous for not paying their freelancers in time and recently the company had to take away all the bonuses because it's not making any profit currently. Mismanagement and the state of the game industry, well, doesn't look too well for the company sadly. Old Digic was an awesome place to work at, but now, I would avoid it entirely.

Pros

Very cool projects. Mostly 3D video game cinematic. Very enjoyable to deal and work with the other foreign employees no matter the geographical origins.

Cons

Terribly disorganised. Around 25% of employee work on the wrong files because communication is just an option. They do not like foreigners. They hire them only because they cannot find artists within Hungary. They speak to you in English of course for the basic info, but then Hungarian is the main language you hear all day long, so no way to learn or keep up with the latest in day to day work. Database mostly in Hungarian. They even try to assign other people's mistakes to the juniors for not arming the higher ranks status. Feedback is also very limited. You got to do your own tax declaration (in Hungarian and Hungarian tax offices speak no English), no matter if you have a permanent or full time contract. Pay is low.
