No trust, leadership based on fear, not a lot of room for personal development

I had not met my manager or team during the hiring process, and I was assigned to a product area I had no prior context on. The onboarding was minimal to non-existent. There was little guidance, very limited feedback, and no clear direction on what success looked like. Communication and direction were often unclear, and the working style felt top-down and not particularly open to input — including from customers — which was surprising given the role. Despite this, I made a strong effort to create structure myself — building relationships across teams, initiating customer research, and contributing insights that were positively received by several colleagues. A few days before being let go, I had informed the company that I was about to undergo medical examinations for a potential cancer diagnosis. Shortly after, I was terminated without prior warning, clear feedback, or an opportunity to address any concerns. The decision felt one-sided and not grounded in a balanced evaluation of my work or collaboration with others. Overall, my experience was that the company talks about collaboration and culture, but in practice, it felt opaque, siloed, and lacking in psychological safety and open dialogue.
