Pros

Close to home Some, albeit limited supportive and friendly staff

Cons

Don’t let all the ‘employer of the year’ awards fool you, select members of staff were selected to give praise and feedback to judges. Cons include: Poor communication and management Toxic environment from the senior management team - you will be fine if you are in the ‘inner circle’ or if you always say “yes” and pander to senior management team. Boasts of fantastic company performance, however, this is not reflected in staff wages or bonuses. Members of the senior management team boast about their wealth and how they spend it in company meetings. Some members of the senior management team do not listen or indeed take on board concerns raised, potential efficiency savings or process improvements. Senior management team choose when to follow policy, if it is of benefit to them, and when/if to generate a policy if non is in place. There are many policies, which have yet to be written and implemented. This is to allow senior management to do as they wish. Their external HR Consultant is very much for the company rather than the employee. Concerns with them are not listen to or addressed, instead they suggest that the problem is the one raising the issue. Senior management are toxic and unprofessional. They like to gossip about staff personal issues, illnesses and why people have left the business. They boast of having mental health first aiders, however, you couldn’t have chosen 2 more inappropriate people for the role!

I’m very disappointed to read this review and I certainly don’t recognise the picture that has been painted here of DLRC – our mission is to create a collaborative environment where employees excel, our culture remains our priority and the number one reason our people cite for working for the business. This is also borne out by the average tenure of our valued staff. I take these points very seriously and would be happy for you to reach out to me personally so we can discuss further (dianne.lee@dlrc.co.uk)

Pros

Friendly during the interview process.

Cons

Applied for a role, got offered the role, signed and dated the contract from both my side and DLRC's side, 3 weeks before I was due to start having handed in my notice with my other company, DLRC withdrew the contract stating 'third party budget issues' despite myself asking these questions during the interview regarding budget and clients. Having requested me to demonstrate their 'values' during the interview process, unfortunately their own values are not upheld and have now left me unemployed. Would not apply here again. I had also recommended this place to my colleagues and they state having negative experiences during the beginning of the recruitment process. Also offered me 5k less that what I had originally asked for and had minimal contact with me during my notice period.

We are extremely sorry that you have not been able to join us, but as I’m sure you’re aware (your previous company has laid people off recently) there is no certainty in the service sector and, having not successfully secured the expected work to keep you employed, we made this very hard decision to protect the current business. The impact of Brexit, pandemic, inflation and high interest rates have had an impact globally this year. I am acutely aware of the impact of our decision on you personally and we appreciate that, while paying you a notice period doesn’t fully compensate you, we hope it goes someway to helping in this difficult situation. I am disappointed to hear that you felt the decision was not executed with kindness and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further, however, I think if we had allowed you to join the company and then asked you to leave during probation that would have wasted your time and demonstrated less integrity. I have followed up with our recruitment manager and understand that he did contact you several times during your notice period, so again, would be interested to understand how we could improve this process. Finally we all wish you success in securing an alternative position quickly.

Pros

Some nice and talented colleagues

Cons

Where to start? When I was hired, I was told that the company wanted people with my skillset and wanted to expand our department. In truth, DLRC never cared about or respected my skillset; my job title was a buzzword to them that they could use in marketing and thought that anybody could do my job. Because of this attitude, projects were under-budgeted, making it difficult to produce quality work in unrealistic timeframes. When employees raised concerns and put any recommendations and suggestions to senior management, they were shrugged off. Throughout my tenure, senior management seemed more preoccupied with awards and shallow puffery trying to make the company sound like it was doing better than it was. There was blatant favouritism, continually recognising and giving new career opportunities to the favourites while blocking career progression of others. Their future plans for the company consisted of a bunch of slogans. Senior management may wax lyrical about promoting wellbeing, but in reality they've passed responsibility of wellbeing onto the employees while doing everything to wreck it. DLRC made many senior staff redundant during 2024. Even though this was a tough year for many companies, this may have been the result of the overhiring at DLRC during 2021 and 2022 that was not backed by any increase in work coming in. The redundancy process was a sham, led by someone with the people skills of a slime mould who implemented an unfair system of selecting those who would be made redundant that had nothing to do with performance. The worst thing about this company is that they market it to employees as something it's not; the company values on the website do not reflect how DLRC operates in practice and employees' lives are clearly expendable.
