Pros

Please read my review that was specifically for BYTE now called MTUS or DEPT MARKETING US. DEPT is a company is split into sub-companies or agencies that they acquire, that share contracts with one another. However, they all are apart of this one conglomerate called DEPT. Good place to make a quick dollar if you are in between jobs.

Cons

Discrimination. Stay away from this company. You have "girl bosses" (mainly YT women) all trying to be the HBIC's. If you know what that means avoid this place. If you actually have a brain and are not a yes person, avoid this place. The benefits are okay but pretty expensive comparable to companies that offer health benefits. You will have to figure out what plans suit your needs, on your own, because HR does not have a clue about the benefits and what they cover. If you believe in work life balance, your work ethic will be passive aggressively questioned. You will be micromanaged and spoken down to. There is zero collaboration at this job; there is a 'do it because I said so' attitude. Also, if you are not apart of the clique of the girl bosses, your thoughts or ideas do not matter, unless it is for grunt work that they do not want to do themselves. They will treat you like the help at times. And will make you feel gaslit if you bring it up, or ask for help or clarification on any tasks. People are really rude to each other and there is a lack or respect and professionalism. Seriously, avoid this place at all costs, if you actually are a genuine nice person looking for a job that you can grow and build a career in. This is for people just looking for a quick job as a last resort. Get in and as fast as you got hired and do not bother with giving them two weeks notice. They do not give notice when they are letting you go. Which budget cuts happen quite often here, if you catch my drift...

Pros

There were some high quality people I worked with - that’s about it.

Cons

Where do I even start: 1. Mandating a return to office policy 2. Unlimited PTO but it was frowned upon when used 3. Incapable people in leadership positions 4. No appreciation for managers and no support provided for them 5. Unrealistic expectations from absent management 6. Making decisions that thrash the team around without consulting with people that are boots on the ground 7. Rolling over to clients and not challenging them when appropriate to do so 8. Non-existent career opportunities unless more new business or more client budget is won over

Pros

The client was nice enough to send me a free product.

Cons

I had the unfortunate experience of working with Dept, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. From the very beginning, there was absolutely no onboarding process. It felt like I was thrown into the deep end without a life jacket. The lack of guidance left me struggling to find my way, and it was clear that Dept had no interest in helping me acclimate to my role. Adding insult to injury, the company provided zero valuable feedback during my time there. I found myself working in a vacuum, unsure of whether I was meeting expectations or falling short. It's astonishing that a company of this size and reputation fails to recognize the importance of constructive criticism for employee growth and development. To make matters worse, I was unceremoniously fired without any effort from Dept to assist me in improving my performance. The lack of support was appalling, leaving me bewildered and stranded in the aftermath of their arbitrary decision. What's particularly distressing is the apparent racial bias in the termination process. While my Caucasian counterparts were given opportunities to improve and were offered assistance, I, as a person of a different race, was shown the door without a second thought. This discriminatory treatment is not only morally reprehensible but also in clear violation of fair employment practices. Dept's utter disregard for proper onboarding, constructive feedback, and equitable treatment of employees reflects poorly on their organizational culture. I would strongly advise anyone considering employment with Dept to think twice and weigh the potential consequences of joining a company that cares so little about its employees' well-being and professional growth. My experience with Dept has left me disheartened and disillusioned with corporate culture, and I sincerely hope others can avoid the same fate.
