Pros

Sounds cliché but the people were the best part of Credo. They were among the most talented and engaged that I have ever encountered. Working with libraries is highly rewarding and I never spent a day not feeling like I helped make the world a better place. We were out to change the way the world was educated and made an amazing impact is a very short period of time.

Cons

The CEO allows his personal insecurities to chase away all the talented people in Credo. He and his posse are driving the company into the ground. Credo experienced amazing growth over a two year period however, because there is no oversight for his actions, all the growth and buzz that we all worked so hard to create has gone "up in smoke". It's very sad to watch. The management team (which is really two people) talk about culture yet they do NOT live into the culture.

Thanks for your feedback. As you pointed out, Credo does indeed have on staff incredibly talented and engaged employees. In 2013 and 2014, results of a third-party administered employee engagement survey revealed a high level of engagement with an average score across all areas being 5 out of 6 on a scale of 1(strongly disagree) to 6(strongly agree). 90% of employees reported ‘Trust in Senior Leaders’ and 90% of employees would recommend Credo as a great place work. The current Management Team is made up of 8 employees, not 2.

Worse Employment Experience of My Life!

Pros

They provided lots of food and drinks.

Cons

Company values were created by the CEO; he never engaged the staff in an effort to help establish values and then wondered why people never lived up to those values. Upper management lacks emotional maturity; controlling dysfunctional behavior.

Thank you for sharing your perspective as a former employee. Creating and defining company values has always been an active process involving employees at every level. Over the past few years, informal, small group conversations have been held to discuss company values and the output of all efforts is a clear, detailed document defining our shared values of service, responsibility, humility & humor, responsibility and teamwork. New employees who join are regularly impressed at the clear focus and thoughtfulness we give to fostering a great culture at Credo.

Lack of Support and Educational Opportunities

Pros

Great product, good strategic plan, solid people, good pay, and amenities

Cons

Lack of leadership from team lead made working at Credo difficult especially since I was promised support and never received it. I believe this could largely be attributed to the overall workload which was quite a bit for essentially 1.5 people, but it was also clear that my manager did not welcome the need to mentor a junior employee. This would lead me back to culture - which it seems was relatively non-existent at that point in the company's life
