Pros
Reasonable pay, serves a wide range of industries and represents many manufacturers, so there’s the potential for a broad sales experience (if you can stick it out!)
Cons
Most TOXIC, unsupportive work “colleagues” I’ve ever come across in my life! Sales team (each with 12 to 20 years in the same job) was a viper’s nest of undermining and unwelcoming behaviour to me as a newbie - whispering (yes, literally stage-whispering in corners) gas-lighting, stealing plum accounts, school-yard nastiness and straight-up sabotage. Upper management based in Melbourne/Sydney either refused to see or actually encouraged & supported these behaviours. Procurement were hostile, confused and seemed to go out of their way to make life more difficult for sales & customer service. I have a pretty tough skin, but even I couldn’t stay longer than 12 months for the sake of my mental health.
