Pros

Once was a place with smart, engaged people who truly cared. Very few remain and those that do can not make an impact

Cons

The majority of the non technical field folks do not understand the product or what they are selling. More technical field roles have year long ramps to true productivity. A new hire will not get a year to make an impact.. theres not enough time. There are issues with retention, lack of expansions for non churning customers, and significant pain in acquiring new logos which usually end up being small. There are only a few big enterprise customers producing any new ARR at all via expansion. I saw multiple CROs, multiple CPOs, and multiple CEOs. None succeeded to scale Contrast since their final fundraising round. The core product is fundamentally broken at a conceptual level. The basic requirements to use it are simply not present in most customer environments. The new product is a speculative bet on the non existant ADR market, which companies like Crowdstrike have not even invested in. Is it a real market? Development is too slow. The majority of developers are contractors. There is zero investment in cloud infra, devOps, technical debt, to make engineering stronger. Last I heard promos and bonuses were frozen. Culture and values are nonexistent. Too much finger pointing due to poor results across all teams. Awful work life balance, lots of sprinting towards what ends up being nothing. Management doesn't seem to care, possibly just CYA.

Pros

There are no pros here. Haven’t been for a long time

Cons

I haven't bothered to leave a review here but was saddened (but not surprised) at their recent attempts to spread disinformation here and other places like LinkedIn. More than a month after the nth layoff (hard to even keep count anymore), it has now become abundantly clear to everyone that it's all over now. The very low morale and level of disillusionment have reached new lows. Some of the very few people who used to have their cameras on for zoom meetings, I've noticed even they have turned them off now. Attempts at work related conversations inevitably tail off with someone saying - what's the point now anyway? There’ve been some people who have been here mainly because of inertia - not wanting to go through the trouble of finding another job. Even they have now urgently started job hunting. We all know not much time is left. As for the executive team and other political actors in senior management, I expect they will ride this gravy train to the end. It is not that they have the skills to find something else on their own anyway. The management continues to be indifferent and tone deaf to the awful working conditions, the ever increasing amount of load being placed on the people left to get stuff done "on time". They are not capable enough to understand the technical difficulties nor do they care how overworked and overwhelmed the people are who do the actual work. Yet their demands are relentless, the lectures never ending. The CEO has filled the executive team with his pals. The CRO is doing the same in Sales. None of these jobs are advertised. We just get emails that so and so has been appointed to this title and how wonderful their past achievements are. So much for "transparency"

So this is how it’s like to be in a dying business

Pros

Ha, this is funny funny!

Cons

- New sales tanking. - Existing customers leaving, especially major ones. - Entire departments being eliminated. - Benefits being slashed. - Apart from the regular mass extinction events of layoffs, lots of small amounts of people being thrown to the curb on quite regular basis. - Increasing offshore contracting. Of the cheapest kind. You get what you pay for. - (Mis)management getting even more tyrannical. They are desperate, seeing the impending end of their cushy gigs. - An all pervasive gloom surrounds what’s left of the company. - The sycophants stopping to new levels of cringe. Again, desperation. - Co-workers who hadn’t been active on LinkedIn for years now have new pictures, making posts, trying to make themselves visible to the recruiters. Makes you smile. Could go on but you get the picture.
