Pros

Salary, remote-work, flexibility, events and talented people.

Cons

Unorganized, lacks structure, lacks experienced HR, no feedback system, lacks processes and accountability, senior leadership incompetent and favored by the CEO. 👉🏽 The CEO made bad hiring decisions for the first 4 years of the company which led to the company’s foundation being rocky. For the first 4 years, the company struggled with creating a vision and mission statement. 👉🏽 The website was something the whole company couldn’t agree on which was not supposed to be the whole company’s responsibility, just a few. 👉🏽 Many senior leaders from big centralized companies were brought to run a decentralized company without any training or mentorship. All those men and some women who joined weren't and aren’t flexible to adapt to the future of work. 👉🏽 The company is majority men and without the very few women who care about diversity and inclusion, the company doesn’t care or prioritize this area at all. 👉🏽 They fired highly talented individuals who took the company’s brand globally. 👉🏽 They hired a CMO who had no experience and costed the company a couple of million in ethereal summits that brought no ROI. 👉🏽 The company to this day, April 2022 has not decided on equity and shares. They are dragging the process for as long as ConsenSys has existed. I could write more but I think you get the point. If you read the whole thing, then I hope you make the best choice for yourself. Even with the bad reviews, it looks like the company is appealing and doing well, but its a facade because you will face many obstacles and challenges and the constant friction with difficult leadership will affect your self-worth and self-esteem. So many talented individuals globally joined this company left leaving disappointed, disrespected, unacknowledged and unappreciated. Go work for a company that will lift you up rather than break you down.

Pros

Flexibility. Nobody won't notice (or care) if you don't do anything for 6 months

Cons

I was immediately put on gardening leaving when I complained about the culture of bullying, harassment and unequal pay between men and women with the same roles and seniority. I was surprised about how fast the process was considering they took 3 months to fire the Head of Very Important Area after he made racist and homophobic remarks towards me at a company event which was being live-streamed. There was video and audio footage HR refused to see. After that most of the women in the marketing team left. In the Paris office, only 2 women are left. Most of females dev left for the same reason. This is a company for and by white males. Besides that, we were told we would be given bonuses and shares and that never happened. There's also a huge disparity between US and European salaries. Europe is seeing as cheap labour. You can only ascend if you are a white male in the NYC office.

Pros

Remote work culture allows for some personal freedom. There are some nice people at ConsenSys who are trying to make it work. Unfortunately, they are at lower levels of the company where they have minimal impact.

Cons

This is an attempt by a group of inexperienced freshers to self-govern themselves, Just like the novel "Lord of the Flies." The employees form into tribes to try to protect themselves & survive. Some groups try to do real work while others remain fairly idle, but bully others and spend the days going to meetings and sending useless slack messages, For a start-up, the number of meetings and reports making is crazy making. However, because the group is trying to sell govern, they need all the meetings to try to build consensus among the staff to get anything done. Nothing gets done unless a group agrees to do it. Without any structure or performance management, there is constant backstabbing & going behind people to advance your own, or your tribe's agenda. Management lets this all go on, never intervening and never offering any guidance . Complaints are ignored. The result is unhappy employees, which leads to constant turnover. The environment is particularly bad for women employees. There is not one woman on the executive staff & that speaks volumes about who they are. The executives are all men. Many women have filed complaints before leaving the company. My advice is stay away from this employer. The technology is not cutting edge and it's not worth being in the toxic work culture .
