Poor communication skills on the part of secretive management combined with a frat boy culture, lack of resources and unclear direction.

Unfortunately, Cloudmark never quite hit the big-time, and has grown beyond the Start-Up roots, so that the old core of elite folk left, and everything started creeping towards stupid "corporate" professionalism. It's still a pleasant enough place, but there is no future until the company is sold, and it currently exists in a limbo of trying to find itself. Once it does get sold, then things could either become very interesting, or very much the reverse...
