Pros

Benefits: - top tier private healthcare - flexible working - unlimited holidays

Cons

CloudM was once a vibrant, supportive, exciting and inclusive workplace, placing people at the forefront. However, it has undergone a noticeable shift. As a woman in the tech industry, I initially celebrated Donna's appointment as the first female Managing Director at CloudM. While I recognise that Donna has spearheaded positive changes in business processes, the focus on nurturing talent and fostering a supportive environment has disappeared. The new Senior Leadership Team comprises primarily of Donna's acquaintances from her past roles or long standing employees who lack crucial people and leadership skills. This has resulted in a palpable detachment between SLT members and the rest of the workforce. Instead of cohesion, there's now a distinct divide, characterized by inflated egos and a lack of genuine leadership. The leaders have become increasingly unapproachable, further exacerbating the disconnect within the company. What was once a vibrant and inclusive workplace now feels fragmented, with little emphasis on culture, people and in some cases, human compassion and empathy. Teams work in silos. We were continuously told not to speak to certain colleagues and departments and instead asked to use our manager as a go-between. The product falls far below today's technical standards and lags behind the competition and I don't see it improving any time soon with a skeleton development team and an inexperienced, siloed support team.

Pros

Great healthcare The 'doers' really pitch in, and care about the business CloudM was a great place to work for the majority of my time there. And many of my colleagues really pitched in, worked hard and cared about the business.

Cons

Unfortunately due to recent management changes, hard work goes increasingly unrecognised. As a person of colour, I felt my experience was marginalised and dismissed during my last few months at CloudM. I didn't feel that that was any room left for me there in the culture. There is no pay review structure, and as the SLT only hire ex-colleagues from Xero, there is a glass ceiling in terms of progression if you aren't the favoured few. There is a culture of fire at will, particularly if you are noticeably achieving at your job and have the temerity to question decisions made by senior members who have less experience. This has lead to a culture of mistrust and panic which seems to be encouraged. There's no point asking for change or managing upwards as the management team are apparently completely lacking in any kind of compassion or understanding. Staff are increasingly disconnected and silos are encouraged.

Pros

Unfortunately, I cannot think of any good things about working for CloudM

Cons

You have no job security and they are not ashamed to make you aware of this leaving the company moral very low, all of the employees are extremely unhappy and many are starting to leave or are now in the process of looking for new jobs (these people are honest, hardworking and dedicated to their positions, they have just had enough). The company used to have a great culture which has now disappeared. They do not promote internally and pay rises are very very rarely reviewed. It is such a shame as many people used to love working for CloudM.

We're really sorry and disappointed to hear you feel this way about your time at CloudM. Hopefully you raised these concerns in your exit interview so we had the opportunity to discuss it with you before you left the company. If not, we would be keen to discuss your comments further so we encourage you to reach out to a member of our People team at people.team@cloudm.io In response to the specific points you've raised and to give context, we're an exciting, fast paced and growing business which means we continue to change and evolve. We appreciate this can be challenging at times and may not suit everyone but it is necessary for us to remain successful. We're open about our labour turnover which currently sits at 12.2% - this is below industry average. We're currently in the process of concluding our annual pay review, and we're really proud and encouraged by all of the internal promotions we've made over the last year. We will continue to ensure people and culture is a key part of our company strategy in order to attract and retain the best talent and create a fantastic employee experience. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your experience working at CloudM. We take all feedback seriously as we strive to create a positive and supportive work environment for our employees.
