Pros

- Semi-remote - Well known in the local area - Sales and research are solid - Many interesting projects - Good sick and PTO policy - Good location

Cons

- Long hours and always over-promising. This has been a long-running issue where they over-promise delivery or functionality. This leads to many working really long hours and tons of tech debt being piled up. - Resources are stretched thin. Their reputation and compensation are hurting their ability to hire, so most people are working part-time on multiple projects. This leads to low-quality work, low output, and lack of focus from people on each project. - Week engineering practice. Engineers don’t know the software stacks, even if they claim they do. They learn either by being thrown on bad-shape codebases or mediocre tutorial series. The in-depth knowledge of technologies is severely lacking, even amongst “senior” staff. Especially in the cloud and web. - Passive-aggressive culture and high turnover. Almost all new hires leave within a year. Beyond pay, benefits, and hours which are major factors, the overall company culture needs work. It’s very passive aggressive. You get the feeling that half the people there only “tolerate” working with you. Some are genuinely great, but there are many who are passively aggressive.

Pros

Smart, talented, warm people pass through here. Some awesome co-workers and amazing events. It really can be a delightful place to work

Cons

This was an organization I was really happy to join- and it USED to be a dynamic and seemingly growing agency. But without a functional upper management, people have been pouring out of here and (some of) the people left behind are not experienced enough to manage. I have never seen attrition at an agency like I've seen here, and ChaiOne really attracts some amazing talent. It just cannot keep it for more than a year or two (max). Because the CEO is rarely around and checked in, one shady upper manager really took advantage of the lack of oversight for a while and basically did almost nothing to collect his salary. His half-baked "I went to business school" ideas resulted in more bureaucracy, and none of it lasted. There was almost no followthrough on anything he did. I'm sure he was making 6 figures for that. After watching a nearly a colleague a week resign, I'm looking too.

Pros

Great smart people in UX and Dev. Energetic, great employee body. People work well together.

Cons

Management leadership is lacking. Management Egos is through the roof. Cheap, cheap, cheap. Read about the CEO's 3 before 1 ideology.
