Pros

The delightful perk of free lunches and the presence of a handful of incredibly friendly colleagues.

Cons

I joined the company with high hopes due to its groundbreaking product aimed at advancing cell therapy manufacturing and meeting the growing global demand for such therapies. The potential to lower the cost of cell therapies was a significant motivator for me. However, my experience with the company has been a mixed bag. The company's core product is undeniably impressive, and it has the potential to revolutionize the field of cell therapy manufacturing. It's exciting to be part of a company contributing to such an important and impactful industry. Unfortunately, my initial days at the company were marred by an unwelcoming and snobbish culture. From day one, I didn't feel welcomed by my team, and it seemed like there was an unspoken attitude of "why are you here?". The small team I was a part of had a tendency to focus on materialistic discussions, primarily centered around cars, houses, and pools, which created an environment that felt exclusive and cliquey. One of the major drawbacks was the lack of clarity regarding my role and contributions. For the first four weeks, I had to wait for access to a crucial software tool, only to find out that an additional two weeks would pass before I received the necessary training for it. This delay left me questioning whether I was hired prematurely for my position. Despite my efforts to stay productive, my manager's insistence on networking within the company added to the frustration. The constant busyness of my colleagues made it difficult to approach them for meaningful conversations unless it was during lunch breaks. This created a sense of isolation and hindered my ability to integrate into the team seamlessly.

Pros

There are so many good people working here, and the product and mission are so important. I don't think the issues are so bad that we will fail, but it's sad seeing how unhappy people are. I think things are more difficult than they need to be due to poor planning and bad management.

Cons

This is specifically for the Engineering department. The guy who used to give people he liked back rubs to show his approval is now leading the whole department, and the culture has become toxic. The atmosphere once encouraged collaboration, open discussion, and good work-life balance, but not any longer. These days, the way to succeed is to put your head down, don't ask any questions, work long hours (working late and weekends is common), do NOT work from home, don't take too much "unlimited" PTO, and never complain. Anxiety, fear, frustration, and burnout are also common. Good leadership is missing.
