Pros

- Culture - inclusive and fun - very similar personalities which speaks to how they recruit; team gets together as often as possible (though sadly I was a pandemic CRG resource during my tenure so I didn’t get to see the full extent of this) - People - very smart, driven and supportive team members - Client opportunities - CRG deals with some of the largest companies in Canada (across many industries) - Internal training - management invests in team training - Access to Senior Leadership - engaged regularly with partners and other senior leaders - whether for advice or just to catch up. Felt little to no bureaucracy or politics that you typically feel in other big firms - no need to “play the consulting” game to get noticed, get credit, etc.

Cons

- Lower levels not typically engaged in planning, so at times it was difficult to understand/prepare for what was coming down the pipeline

Thank you so much for leaving your review! We appreciate your kind words about our culture/environment. The entire team has worked hard to craft a unique company culture that we are incredibly proud of, and it's been a ton of work. We provide all employees with information about pipeline and projects during our Town Hall meetings.

Pros

CRG is a boutique consulting firm that offers a fantastic opportunity to build your skills and career through management consulting in a supportive, collaborative environment. The team is unique, coming from many different career profiles, but collaborative and supportive. Firm is proactive in scheduling socials and team events to maintain the connection amongst colleagues. There is great respect between team members. Politics-free, positive environment that rewards you (in new experiences, exposure, greater autonomy, compensation, etc.) for performance. Allows you to focus on your career objectives, achieve your goals and experience collective success. Projects are challenging and interesting across a growing breadth of clients.

Cons

As a smaller organization, you will wear many hats and your flexibility and resourcefulness will be challenged. Those who enjoy being constantly challenged will flourish.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. The key to success in our business is our commitment to not only our clients, but to our employees. Hiring and developing our employees has always been a priority for the firm, as it is the employees who are on the front line working directly with our clients. We also aim to hire individuals that strongly align to the CRG culture and ambition. We strive to provide a culture where our employees feel they are valued, treated fairly, and deeply respected. I would be happy to discuss these issues or any other feedback you may have. Please email us at info@carlyriangroup.com.

Pros

Culture: management heavily invested in developing talent in terms of both core analytical skills, and leadership capabilities. Team is collaborative, supportive, and enjoys spending time together. Client exposure / exit opps: boutique environment creates great opportunities for client exposure. Many team members left to roles related to past engagements after working closely with executives in strategy, process improvement, and innovation related groups Training: strong investments in creating well-rounded professionals with the analytical capabilities required for leadership roles

Cons

At the time that I joined the firm, it was a young company with immature processes and policies. Expect that this has improved over time.

Pros

- Small firm where everyone rolls up their sleeves , regardless of role - Consultants generally work with one client at a time, which leads to strong and lasting client relationships and results in deliverables that are targeted and valuable (not cookie cutter) - Collegial environment that encourages social connectedness and professional growth - Promotions, raises and bonuses are not just aligned with annual performance management process and can occur at any time throughout the year - Partners are very engaged and generally care about the team

Cons

The interview process is very involved (I see this as a pro rather than a con). Knowing that everyone you work with has gone through the same level of rigour gives confidence in the skills and abilities of your team members.

Pros

I worked at CRG for a year and a half as a member of the senior leadership team. During my time there, I led large client projects, coached junior team members, and led various internal initiatives. I have nothing but positive feedback for the leadership team and my former colleagues. CRG is a company with high performers that do great work and put in the necessary hours to create high quality deliverables for their clients. The partners and senior leadership team is open to feedback and are committed to continuous improvement. The culture is supportive of learning and open communication. The reason I left was for a unique opportunity in a sector I am passionate about. I would recommend CRG to both new management consultants looking for a place to start their career, as well to those with a lot of experience looking for a place to add value and contribute in a meritocracy.

Cons

Not really a con, but this is a company with staff that work hard and perform at a high level, similar to top global consulting firms like BCG and McKinsey. Job seekers should know this when applying.
