Pros

-High standard for content, and great reputation because of it -Relatively few office politics so colleagues are generally pleasant to work with -Adopted digital transformation early, leading in the industry

Cons

-Senior management usually promoted from editorial team and lack business and management experience, which is typical at media companies, not just at Caixin. -Lacks clear career path. Senior management and seasoned reporters (>5 years) are stable but the turnover of young reporters is pretty high. Many younger reporters quit after about 1-2 years and usually join a PR company since it pays much higher and offers opportunities to switch industries/functions. -No regular training. There are many lunch seminars but you can't really get much resource/training if you are a reporter and want to learn data journalism.

Pros

The most credible Chinese news outlet, which is saying less and less by the day. Final product (articles) is good.

Cons

English department has no freedom. You're not so much a journalist as you are a translator or adapter of the Chinese side. They're the REAL stars. You're a lackey.
