Pros

The onboarding process was nice

Cons

Where to begin…when I joined Brandwatch in early 2022 I had good first impressions, however that quickly changed for the worse. My own experience was drastically impacted by changes in leadership. Brandwatch very much plays the buddy system and I’ve watched as they’ve hired friends of leadership who were not the right fit culturally and professionally yet maintained their high paying, high impact role. It is evident hire certain people based on recommendations (and family relations…which is also weird) and not qualifications, which is worrisome. Some of the worst managers have been promoted to Senior Leadership due to favoritism. Leadership is extremely toxic and manipulative. When staff have raised concerns during all hands meetings, their concerns are explained away and the People team gaslight their staff, it’s insane and feels like a bad reality tv show. The new GLT is a joke and I’m grateful I got out when I did. I’ve also seen really great colleagues leave the business due to bullying from other teams. Serious issues are not addressed by HR and it is apparent the “People” team does not care about the people. The unlimited pto policy is misleading and false advertising as once the People team wants you out, they will try to use their own policy against you.

Pros

Unlimited paid time off and sick time Middle managers who are invested and seem to genuinely care about individual's growth

Cons

The CEO completely lacks empathy and vision. He constantly talks about the economy being at an all time low, but at the same time, he brags about his globe-trotting visits to our various offices. When he's in the office, he mostly hides in a conference room and only pops out for what he calls an "informal huddle," which really amounts to a 30-minute monologue before he disappears again. Any hope for upward mobility here is a waste of time. In the last two years, we've seen multiple instances where they promised promotions or raises, only to delay them for almost a year. It's nearly impossible to plan any kind of career progression because the timelines keep shifting. Tools and project management systems we use to help us perform our jobs are a joke. They seem to have gone for the cheapest and most basic options available, which makes them overly complicated and not user-friendly at all. To top it off, the KPIs that determine our bonuses include things as trivial as submitting timesheets on time.

Pros

-Flexible work from home -Unlimited PTO

Cons

I was at Brandwatch for a long time and it was a place that I used to rave about. It was an amazing company filled with innovation and amazing work culture. You had the opportunity to grow and expand your career. Brandwatch truly cared for its employees and their happiness. The last year or two really changed for the worst when we got sold to Cision and a new CEO came in. The CEO, hired and brought in his friends including some who have made terrible business choices that have effected everyone's day to day and job security. This new c-suite also brought in their friends who have also not performed amazingly. In those years we had 3 massive layoffs (one of which the CEO fake cried when announcing it), they got rid of a lot of high-level leadership, managers, and tenure employees. Followed by smaller scale layoffs per team, major one being the sales team. If you weren't in the good graces of some leadership you were canned. Changes to the sales org happened what seemed like every other week. No clear vision in what we were selling nor clear go to market strategy. We haven't received a yearly pay bump since the new CEO, Cali, started. If you got a raise from a promotion it was peanuts. Since the end of 2023 and really picking up in 2024 TOP TALENT have been dropping like flies leaving the organization for much better opportunities. Brandwatch will work you dry with little to no appreciation. Good luck don't work here.
