Good job, terrible company

Pros

I like what I do day to day, and the people I work with are really cool. It used to be a decent company, years ago.

Cons

This company has changed drastically, and this isn't a company anyone wants to work for anymore. Turnover is through the roof (even with execs), people are being fired to meet revenue goals, and any raise or promotion is nearly impossible to get. That's despite the fact that most of us were hired in at around 20% below average pay for the industry & location. Every time a low level employee asks if there's a chance for raises or promotions based on our performance, the execs respond in the most condescending ways possible, reminding us that "raises aren't handouts," and that it's "not in the budget." Oh, but execs still get regular promotions and raises.

Pros

My co-workers at Brandmuscle were some of the most hardworking, passionate, and creative people I have ever worked with. Company culture among employees is great, but is extinguished by management.

Cons

- SEVERELY underpaid. Brandmuscle hires employees straight out of undergrad that do not yet know their worth. There are no yearly raises. There are no raises at all. Bonuses were introduced and immediately taken away - No room for growth. If you want a promotion, the person above you has to leave the company. This could mean is your supervisor has worked there for 10 years, you may never move up in the company. - Undervalued. Our design work was belittled to our faces by upper management. During a meeting, one of the VP's called the designers "monkeys" because of "how easy it is to do our jobs", meanwhile they didn't know our names or job responsibilities at all. - Company culture is dead. There used to be social events, team-bonding, training, incentives. All were removed by the time I left becuase of lack of funding. - UNDERVALUED. They furloughed 2/3 of their staff due to COVID. We were put on an HR call and muted so we were not allowed to ask questions. My coworkers who had been with the company for decades were let go without explanation. Very few people including myself were kept on hold for 18 weeks and asked to come back without warning, then let go again. There is no communication among management, except for letting employees know how un-valued they are there.
