I am a result of restructure of the company. Worked at Bose for 25 years. With 5 more years to work, I felt that my job was in jeopardy and took buyout package they offered. This means you cannot collect unemployment because by taking this, means you quit your job. My pension will not be what I planned, and I haven't been able to find work until January of this year. I went 6 months with no paycheck and used one third of my buyout money that should have been saved for retirement to pay bills. I love working for Bose until 2010 when Dr. Bose was stricken and never returned to the office. He was a brilliant, down to earth man that considered his employees as the success of his company. Changes in the direction of the company changed almost immediately. You were no longer consider a benefit to the company, just a number. They integrated Lean "Six Sigma" not only in manufacturing, but in the office. In addition to your regular work, you also had to be involved with projects related to lean. Your job was no longer 40 hours, but 50 plus. Your personal life had to come second to Bose. All of the benefits the company once offered in the early days were all taken away. Human Resources works on behalf of the management, not the employee. It is no longer a place to be proud of, or producing a good product, but it's all about the bottom line. All US manufacturing has been moved to Mexico and Malaysia. They built a state of the art plant in Malaysia which has not worked out benefiting the bottom line. They recently moved there customer service to the Philippines leaving 400 people without a job. I could keep going, but think I have said enough to deter anyone from applying to Bose. If you do not have at least a bachelors degree, do even bother. You want have a chance in hell. The whole restructure was to rid the company of older workers with higher salaries and bring in a younger group of people. Sad part is that the younger generation has no work ethic, demand a lot, and hope from one job to another if it doesn't fit what they want. Not only did they offer buyout, but many of those that did not take the package have been laid off. Executive management sucks. They hired a VP of manufacturing when last one retired. He was previously at EMC where he was the hatchet man there. He climb the ladder quickly as did the people that he determined would follow his lead. I believe he will be the death of the company.
