Pros

Loved my job. Coworkers were great. Felt supported for many years. Decent benefits

Cons

Unprofessional professionals, extremely petty work environment and frankly, a very hypocritical company. Both upper and middle management were awful. As for advancement? Yes, there are some of those that do move up the ladder. But it’s an unfair playing field. You’re not tight with management? Forget about making any more than your $14 an hour.. If they don’t like you for a reason (usually personal), most likely you won’t be getting that job/promotion. If you voice an opinion or felt differently than your supervisor, you were immediately known to be difficult to work with. Conform or leave. Life is stressful for EVERYONE. However, Beacon Light must feel that this doesn’t apply to their own employees. Despite being a company who’s shtick is promoting mental wellness for individuals and families, they have little regard for their own employees’ mental health. Constantly hiring… reposting job after job. It’s an obvious red flag. In the past, this company has been known for their tenured staff (which by the way no longer seems to be the case). Hardworking, dedicated and quality staff have left because it was SO toxic. Wages were not reasonable for the amount of work that was asked or expected of you. Some employees face difficult and sometimes dangerous situations in their field of work and should be compensated appropriately (granted, I know they are a non profit company and the services are greatly needed in the area). But for them, it’s all about their bottom line and their own well-being.

Pros

Helping some of the clients

Cons

Don’t work here unless you want to be assaulted by grown adults daily who get no repercussions for their actions and when you do want to press charges you get downgraded by management and talked out of doing it . Management laughs during behaviors and tells you not to take things personal yet they allow a client to target you for days to the point you can’t do your job properly . Don’t try to make friends with your co workers because every single one of them will stab you in the back and talk behind your back. The work environment is so toxic it will have you questioning your sanity. They work you so much forget having a life outside of work and then want to complain that they lose money in overtime and tell someone that makes less money they’ll work them more because they make less than you do. Honestly a joke . If you didn’t have issues before working here you will when you leave and you’ll probably have scars on your body also while the clients there that they are “reintegrating into society” keep getting to think that punching people in the face and spitting on them is acceptable and legal to do because of their disability. Run for the hills this place is infamous for a reason.
