      High stress, low reward

      Pros

      Co-workers are team players and most are very friendly and pleasant to be around; Public varies by branch but most are nice and grateful for service provided; Benefits package for full-time is great; Salaries are so-so unless you are management

      Cons

      Management at branches, administration and basically throughout system is unapproachable, vindictive and often unprofessional; HR is clueless and often says one thing and does another; Policies are not universally applied, it's all whether they like you or not; Some great people get passed over for promotions while inexperience, incompetence and even meanness is rewarded; No benefits for part-timers

      Bureaucracy at its Best

      Pros

      I was a part time employee in the Processing Department and they allowed me to have flexibility with my schedule.

      Cons

      They don't do a lot of internal promoting. They LOVE to hire from outside but they love to use the "horse and carrot" trick for the internal employees. If you would like to transfer from part-time to full-time, keep on dreaming.

      Pros

      Serving members of your community in finding materials and resources is very rewarding. The staff are friendly and professional and working with them is enjoyable.

      Cons

      Opportunities for full time positions are rare and therefore result in high levels of competition.
