C-suite lack true leadership and management skills which has lead to a deep reliance on hoping that hard working people will figure out their jobs without any actual vision, direction, support, transparency, or systems and procedures. Many people play three or four different roles to fill significant gaps across different organizational functions. Communication skills are completely lacking. C-suite is unable to have difficult or hard conversations and rely on others to spread messages for them resulting in serious miscommunication. Usually this results in no communication about anything and has created a toxic soup of resentment among staff. The different groups operate in silos resulting in duplicated effort constantly and lack insight into necessary collaboration across teams. Despite solid growth based on tapping into a very ripe market at the right time, they have plateaued due to an inability to define and properly commit and invest in the next market. Business development is an utter failure. After 10 years of being in business they have not moved beyond the startup mentality. The CEO is constantly looking for the next quick thing resulting in multiple failed attempts to both invest properly into new products or initiatives to bring to market or scale. Despite a desire for growth they haven’t invested properly into systems or people.
