Not So Great

Pros

Brilliant coworkers, talented founders, interesting technology, novel approach in a highly competitive field

Cons

I think all of the other reviews on here are fake. This company has an elitist attitude similar to the old Waymo, which makes sense considering who the CEO is. The problem here is the culture, and any place that sells itself on having a great culture while doing things that clearly violate that ethos is not somewhere you want to work. Consider alternatives before joining here.

Pros

Market rate pay, learn more since you work 10+h a day.

Cons

rephrase this Women account for only 18% of all employees but has 5x more attrition rate. The rate of attrition is even higher for women in leadership. When these issues are raised repeatedly during company-wide all hands, Chris and other leaders often respond dismissively and attributed the reason for women leaving to be everything but the company's toxic culture: - The number of women who leave is not statistically insignificant (we are a 1600+ people company) - they leave for better opportunities or previous employers (but does not consider why so many women look for better opportunities compared to others while at Aurora) - there are 3 women on the board, so we are doing great. - even though we care about diversity, we only want the strongest candidates, implying that minority candidates are weaker Through these conversations, it has become apparent that addressing the company's exclusionary culture is a very low priority.

Red Flags Everywhere

Pros

- Pay and benefits are decent - Many talented employees

Cons

- Progress at all costs mentality – this doesn't promote a healthy work life balance. - Processes and polices didn't scale with the company which leads to a lot of confusion and disorganization. - They boast transparency with employees, yet in my experience many projects are "top secret" meaning you don't even know what your teammates are working on. This leads to a lot of isolation for employees who started during the pandemic. - People managers are ridiculously undertrained in people management. - Everyone is tired ALL THE TIME (like worked until 1am and back on at 9am at least a few nights a week tired). This was a red flag for me after the first few days. If every employee seems drained its an easy way to tell that leadership doesn't value their employee's quality of life. - Titles and leveling seem to be a carrot dangled for employees with no real plan, just empty promises which seems to have lowered moral.
