Pros

The app is unique in that there are a ton of data sources to work with and you can learn a bit as a developer here.

Cons

If you are an engineer with experience, you will have much better options than here. Engineers of all levels are extremely underpaid, benefits are non existent, there are no career growth opportunities, and work life balance is not great. The office is not diverse at all. Of 15 or so employees, there are only 2 women and only 1 person of color (see their Instagram page). There is a very strong bro culture here and most events are centered around drinking or sports like a frat club. Something strange you may notice is that turnover rate is high, but there are a small handful of people who have worked there for half a decade or more. It’s not the pay: a 7+ year engineer never broke into the 6 figure salary. It’s not the work life balance: Only 20 days PTO, no remote work, hours are barely flexible, and a minimum of 8 hours a day is expected. The only explanation is some kind of corporate Stockholm Syndrome. Some of These workers work 10+ hours a day and can sometimes be found working weekends. If you are someone who values having a life outside of work, please avoid this company. If you are not, please also avoid, as you might find yourself stuck here for years and never develop your career.

Pros

you’ll get a front-row seat to some of the worst management practices imaginable. if nothing else, it’s a masterclass in what NOT to do. some colleagues are decent, though they’re likely eyeing the door just like you will be within weeks. the office is nicely designed, a fitting monument to the owners’ obsession with appearances over substance.

Cons

this is the only tech company I've worked for in which employees have negotiated for less equity. the owners are distracted dilettantes who treat the company like a vanity project. they’re more interested in planning irrelevant office events or micromanaging decor than delivering results or supporting their teams. arbitrary firings are routine. promotions are meaningless—management will yank the rug out from under you with zero warning, no PIP, no feedback, and no reason. you’re disposable the moment they feel like it. zero accountability or direction. projects languish for months because leadership can’t make decisions or follow through. you’ll spend more time fighting against management’s laziness than actually doing your job. no vision, no strategy, no clue. decisions are arbitrary and based on personal whims or aesthetics rather than any coherent business strategy. it’s a mess from top to bottom. if you value stability, don’t even think about working here. the revolving door of firings creates a constant undercurrent of anxiety and distrust. morale is nonexistent. you’ll waste your time and energy here, only to realize you could’ve been paid better and treated with respect elsewhere.

Pros

Schedule and vacation is flexible. Ostensibly open to employee ideas. Efforts to create a culture and a community. They don't hit you. Dress code sufficiently lax.

Cons

Strict hierarchical structure that's not open to change. Little room for growth. A constant drive to reach an unspecified goal that is always on the horizon. Basically a lot of small ideas packaged as big ideas.
