Pros

They throw a good Christmas party as long as you are not hit on by executive leadership there.

Cons

As all other negative detailed reviews have outlined, believe them. The more recent one line positives are upper management pushing us to write to balance and try to hide their low scores. Also note the more positive ones are mostly from satellite offices and not corporate because those leaders have more independence away from the execs/CEO. Corporate culture is hollow, empty promises and buzzwords made by a bunch of out of touch executive staff. The culture is plagued by blatant sexism and absolutely no work life balance. Internal promotion opportunities are lacking and even if you do move up within the company, you are still financially punished as they will hire someone outside for 2 to 3 times your salary level for the same or similar role. If you are a female looking to move up or into leadership, shop elsewhere. Every female either promoted or hired into leadership is assigned “mentors” which gives the appearance of support when in reality it’s multiple male executives who override your decision making and call the shots for your group. Men hired in or promoted don’t have this same structure. It’s painfully obvious when they chose the first female VP that it will be the most scrutinized position in the company (even though the person is more than qualified/capable to lead their own group). Certain execs are allowed to behave like frat houses at corporate sponsored events such as providing alcohol on site and letting staff drive home, engaging in locker room talk, and kissing subordinate staff, etc. which is then not addressed (like it is with lower staff) and somehow, often times, they are even promoted or continue to behave with no formal correction. Finally, if you’re still reading you might ask what is the company doing to address this toxic culture? The answer is absolutely nothing. If you make suggestions to improve the culture you are labeled as “negative” and iced out by upper leadership who make it uncomfortable until you leave the company rather than them letting you go so they can spin the narrative to their advantage. The CEO took away the internal diversity committee and said he’d handle the efforts himself (although he called DEI a "women's group"). One of the “core values” is about treating everyone with respect yet the CEO is notorious for belittling and screaming at all levels of staff and his exec staff is too self-serving to correct or change it. Stay away.

Hello- My name is Keri Hale, and I work on the Talent Acquisition team. On behalf of American Structurepoint, we appreciate your feedback and want to assure you that we take all reviews seriously, especially the negative ones. Believe it or not, we appreciate these comments. While it may seem trite to say that a company is only as strong as its employees, it is nonetheless true. A positive and respectful culture, equal opportunity for advancement, work-life balance – these are things every employee wants and expects. We work hard to deliver them, not only because that’s how we keep and grow employees but because it is right. Thank you again for your feedback. My contact information is listed below should you wish to talk further. Thank you again for your service within our company, Keri Email: KHale@structurepoint.com

Toxic Company

Pros

Few pros once the negatives are recognized.

Cons

American Structurepoint touts diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as part of their core values, but they are mere buzzwords. Company leadership believes DEI is not not a human rights matter and rather claims it to be tied to political and social agendas. Females companywide are paid less and treated as less than their male counterparts. No efforts for improvement are made when leadership and/or HR are alerted of blatant inequality. Females have been leaving the company at an alarming rate due to this issue (among other issues). The company has no respect for employees' lives outside of work. Five hours of minimum overtime is listed on all offer letters. If an employee is not putting in a minimum of five hours of overtime, they are seen as not doing enough for the company and told they need to work more. Employees are expected to be on-call at all hours of the day and asked to drop anything they may be doing at any given moment if leadership contacts them outside of standard work hours. This includes being expected to work while on vacation. There is a disregard for transparency and internal communication as the company will post job openings without notifying existing employees first. This leaves staff blindsided and undervalued, hinders career progression, and erodes trust within the team. In addition, new employees are regularly hired at significantly higher wages than seasoned staff despite having the same or very similar job responsibilities. High-performing employees are punished by receiving workload that other employees are not capable of handling. Compensation is not adjusted for taking on additional work and training others. Annual reviews are not designed to encourage growth, but rather to criticize and belittle employees. Employees are reprimanded for bringing up concerns in reviews that may reflect poorly on management. You are required to provide your completed review paperwork to management well in advance of your review so they have time to come up with rebuttals for any items you list. You are asked to rate yourself using a 1-5 scale on various items and management without fail will rate you less than you rate yourself as part of belittling you. If you rate yourself a 5 on any items, you are told to redo your paperwork and/or told that 5’s are not attainable and cannot be selected. Years of hard work and loyalty given to the company are meaningless. Leadership will try to guilt/shame you for leaving and/or stop communicating with you completely upon submitting your resignation. They do not truly value their employees as people and it is evident and quite frankly disheartening.
