Pros

1. Everyone from team/department lead down tries their hardest to make this company work. This mostly applies on the technical side. 2. Pay is competitive for the area, but with an asterisk* 3. This job is great if you need people in the East TN area for a support network, most people there go out of their way to be helpful.

Cons

1. *Asterisk on pay: pay is far too LOW for the amount of responsibilities given to each role. Instead of hiring more or developing a stable growth plan, the expectation is to either be tied to your desk for 8 hours or work obscene unpaid overtime (looking at you, Projects and Support desk leads). 2. Terrible growth plan. The motivation is to bring in as many new clients as possible without having the staffing to reasonably back it up. 3. Regardless of work quality, expect to be given more tasks or directives that will turn a relatively simple job into a chore, largely because of poorly implemented infrastructure and no top-down company structure. 4. "Optional" charity work, typically after hours or days off, is not optional. You will be considered "going against the values of the company" if you don't participate in this marketing ploy. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. The religiosity is bordering on unhinged. All some staff members will talk about is church and Jesus. Regardless of your stance on religion, this is inappropriate and tiring since the company culture endorses it. As stated before, the owner makes his religiosity very apparent during the interview process. However, "I run my business as a Christian" is not the same as "this is a Christian business." This is a Christian business.

This is a statement from the owner (Stefan): I appreciate you recognizing the Pros of working here! Small business environments aren't for everyone - they are quite different from corporate environments. Everyone here has to work hard and "wear multiple hats" in order to take excellent care of our customers. I'll address your Cons in order: 1. The expectation when you work at Allevia is that you will work hard. Period. You cannot come here and "coast" or expect your level of responsibilities to decrease over time. We tell new hires that "you will go home tired" because the nature of the work here is that is is busy. This is dramatically different than working an internal IT job. 380+ clients depend on us for technical support, and our mission is about taking care of THEM. Regarding pay, we are above the market average (locally) for the work being performed. We provide advancement and salary increase opportunities, assuming that the team member is increasing their knowledge and skillset. The more valuable you are to the organization, the more money you make. This should be true in any well-run business. Overtime is paid generously and is completely optional. We understand that you are human and you need a life outside of work, but you may also want to make more money. Both options are on the table. 2. We want to grow. We have plans around growth... both increasing client counts AND increasing our own headcount. It is part of our vision to grow and is communicated during our hiring and onboarding processes. 3. We want people to come work here that want to build something. How do you build a great, enduring company? You do one chore at a time. You take directives and build them into meaningful processes. You take a simple job and knock it out of the park. Do we have EVERYTHING figured out? Absolutely not - technology is always changing, which, in my opinion, is what makes this job interesting and exciting! This environment isn't for everyone. Are you going to be challenged? Absolutely. Are you going to be rewarded when conquering these challenges? Absolutely. Will our clients love you for it? Definitely. 4. Based on my experience with folks who don't fit well into our culture, I have changed our careers page on our website AND our interview process to reflect our heart for our community. As a follower of Christ, I believe that we have a responsibility to "love our neighbor" and give back to our community (both in dollars and time). I don't think someone has to be a Christian to agree with me that we should serve our community in some way. We have a goal that everyone in the company serves at least 16 hours in a year, and we do provide opportunities in and out of work hours to accomplish this goal. If you don't want to serve your community in some capacity, you probably shouldn't work here. If you believe that we should serve our community (no matter your stance on faith) then you'll love it here! 5. As mentioned in my responses to other reviews, I am very clear from the get-go with candidates about my relationship with Christ. I want to show love to people through managing their tech. You don't have to be a Christian to agree with me that people (and their IT problems) are worthy of our attention. This is what I say during the interview process: "I am a Christian, but you don't have to be of any faith to work here. However, I espouse those beliefs openly and I operate this business based on biblical principles. Do you have any issues with that?" Reponses to "Advice to Management" 1. I will not cease praying at official work meetings. I personally believe in the power of prayer (Mark 11:22) and of being thankful (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). 2. I do seek outside counsel in many areas of the business! See Proverbs 15:22.

Pros

Above average salary for the type of work being performed. Great for people who can do their job with zero communication from management.

Cons

Management non existent. Tight knit culture only applies if you are religious. Nepotism and favoritism abound.

I want people to be well compensated for the work that they do, and, in turn, my desire is for them to be productive for clients and coworkers with very little “prodding” from management. While we do strive for structure and order, I certainly would not label us as being micromanagers. With regard to religion, I purposefully “make no bones” about the fact that I am a Christian during the interview process. I try and run my business based on biblical principles. It is how I see myself, the work that is done at Allevia, and every single individual that comes into contact with this business. The desire of my heart is that people that work at Allevia love the work that they do, they love the people they work with, and they love each other. You absolutely do not have be of ANY faith to do those 3 things. I do not have any family that work here, so nepotism isn’t an issue. Since we are very much a meritocracy, this can easily be misconstrued as “favoritism”. I want people who WANT to be here and WANT to do the work that we do. The better you are at your job, the more trust you earn and the more privileges you receive (e.g. better pay, managing people, etc.). This is the way that business (in general) works. I want people who walk in the door and will work hard for our clients so that we can serve them with excellence. -Stefan Wilson (owner)

Pros

Decent Pay and Low Stress

Cons

Leaders seem to be off in la-la land. Nowhere to be found. The entire org is like a cult, and I don't mean that lightly. They're all super religious and you either are also or you get pushed to the side. They have very shady filtering in their hiring process to try to identify if you are Christian or not. Most members go to the same church and lead the church. The company is essentially just an extension of a local church.

(note that this paragraph is copied from another response): With regard to religion, I purposefully “make no bones” about the fact that I am a Christian during the interview process. The desire of my heart is for people that work at Allevia to love the work that they do, they love the people they work with, and they love each other. You absolutely do not have be of ANY faith to do those 3 things. Allevia is very much a dynamic and collaborative culture; supervisors and team leads are “in the trenches” with their teams. They are active, engaged, and involved with the day-to-day operations and delivery of service that we provide. I have received feedback from current employees (who really like their job) that we do seem like a cult at first because we’re incredibly focused on caring for one another. This is not a place where you can come in and just get work done and leave – we seek to learn and invest in one another and be there for each other when “life happens” outside of work. There are 3 employees (currently out of 28) that attend the same church. I personally don’t quantify that as “most”, but some might. -Stefan Wilson (owner)
