Pros

Pretty laid back, low stress, and a fun environment. Management tries to prepare new employees and make everyone feel at home. Many experienced engineers with 20+ years in the industry to mentor the inexperienced engineers. Opportunities to advance and try all disciplines in the gas turbine industry (design / structures /heat transfer / project). The biggest draw in to Agilis is that you will often work many different projects whereas larger corporations will stick you in one area for your entire career (i.e. "compressor blades"). They also have good vacation time(16 days + 8 holidays) for new employees.

Cons

If you get stuck doing non conformance work your opinion on Agilis could change dramatically. Its difficult for those guys to get noticed and get out to do quality work. Typically those with a high work ethic will find a way. The other drawback is pay. Agilis pays about the average for new engineers, but the yearly raises do not measure up and do not compensate for inflation even. Unfortunately many people leave because competitors are willing to pay experienced engineers what Agilis will not.

Pros

Cool co-workers & nice location

Cons

This company is terrible to work for. Extremely horizontal with 0 potential for career growth. If you are an engineer, don’t even apply here. They promise engineering work but don’t back up that promise. They will stick you in a room known as the dungeon with dial-up speed internet and expect you to do quality work.

Pros

Fascinating projects to work on, generally good coworkers.

Cons

A lot of politics between IPT leads, terrible middle and upper management. You undergo constant performance reviews written by projects managers, IPT leads, and discipline leads. If you get a bad review, you have no ability to defend yourself or appeal the review even if what is written is out of context or just a flat out lie. I was an entry level employee that through merit was promoted to a higher level design engineer. When there wasn't work I would do whatever I could to go find some billable work to keep my utilization up including taking on work that was outside my engineering discipline. I was very clear to the project manager that I had never done FEA work before and he said no problem he would supervise what I was working on. I sent him work to review, he apparently never looked at it before sending to the customer who found problems with it. He told me it was fine. We would redo the work and to take it as a learning experience. He then wrote me a blistering performance review talking about how I was incompetent. After that I barely got any work from the other project leads even though I never was able to defend myself. This is an asinine way to treat your employees and try to develop someone who wanted to stay with the company long term. Pay was way below average I found out after I had to go find a new job.
