Pros

Table and Chair provided for work. Minimum wage paycheck every 2 weeks. Only Splenda at the kitchen. CEO and Execs are kind enough to remind employees in all meetings to write good GD reviews. If you enjoy watching someone use mediocre NLP skills on unsuspecting innocents purely in order to induce self-destruction and mutual backstabbing, you have definitely come to the right place. Best place for schadenfreude ever. If you manage to quit before you are fired you have won at life!

Cons

It's quite possible that you will witness someone truly losing it there. Unless you enjoy that sort of thing, it's hard to believe that you would be happy at Aera. Bonuses and advancement potential exist only in theory, unless you are from the CEOs last company. The CEO is a megalomaniac, who screams at employees for every little thing. You might be asked to do something that compromises your ethics, if you have any. Abusive management from the Execs. Low employee morale. Zero training or direction. Extremely high turnover; many customers and employees left on their own.

WORST COMPANY AND LEADERSHIP.

Pros

Free coffee and cheap snacks .

Cons

The worst company I have ever worked for throughout my career.. Leadership is very traditional and rule with an iron fist. There is no opportunity to be promoted within. The benefits really suck as I pay $460 per month for health insurance and dental for myself only. We are overworked and under paid. We are told false promises and lied to. We are encouraged not to speak up because Fred (CEO) and Shariq (CTO) will not "like it" . Nothing like a start-up culture. More like a corporate America without the pay and benefits. Do yourself a favor and do not apply. If you already work here, start applying else where as we are losing clients and dont have any revenue. The company just got funding but leadership is already letting go of senior employees. The CFO just resigned and that is the biggest red flag. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Thanks for taking the time to write this. As CPO at Aera, I am disappointed to hear that you’ve had a poor experience as we take our culture and work environment very seriously. You’ve undoubtedly lived through tremendous change and growth with us at Aera as we’ve launched a new vision and new products and expanded globally over the past several years. What we’re doing is both exciting and difficult - we’re tackling one of the biggest challenges in enterprise software and delivering our solution to the largest customers in the world. With this in mind, we’ve matched the challenge with competitive benefits & perks including 3 different health coverage options (2 free of charge to the employee, one with a monthly premium of approximately $50), free dental and vision, pre-tax commuter benefits, premium snacks & catered in-office lunches, and ongoing team activities & events. It hasn’t always been a smooth ride and we know this pace of change and intensity aren’t for everyone, but we are incorporating employee feedback every day. We appreciate your resilience and participation in helping us continue to make Aera a great place for all of our global team members.

One of the worst experiences of my career

Pros

Some of the folks that worked there really wanted to make a difference. Some of the product features were quite interesting and competitive.

Cons

I have never felt compelled to write a negative review of any employer, because I think its crappy to go negative on someone who paid your salary. It has been hearing all the painful stories from ex-coworkers that finally compelled me to put out a word of warning, in the interest of fairness, to anyone considering working here. I've never experienced a more miserable, unfulfilling and dissonant working situation in my life. There is this kind of insane distortion of reality that grinds on you. Instead of letting smart people build a great product, it is micro-management and intimidation on a scale that is hard to wrap your head around. I learned the hard way that there is apparently no real interest in solving business problems, scaling and creating value -- its all about optics and attracting the next round of investment. I'm just saddened to see so many truly hardworking and honest people used up and jettisoned, especially since the product could have been so great. Heartbreaking. Just don't.

Dear Anonymous, I am truly sorry that your experience at Aera Technology wasn’t positive. As we deliver on our vision, we had to change and bring a lot of new Aeronauts on board in a short period of time. We have done our very best to be transparent and to take care of everyone but I understand if some of those growing pains negatively impacted your view of us an employer. We are committed to building a culture that matches our values of trust, respect, and teamwork and hope you find what you’re looking for in your next employer. Wishing you all the success in your next endeavor. Sincerely, Shariq Mansoor, Founder & CTO
